Allergy/Immunology

allergy78494164Allergy/Immunology physicians at Group Health specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic and immunologic diseases.

Allergies occur when a patient’s immune system reacts to a foreign substance such as pollen, bee venom or pet dander. These foreign substances, called allergens, can also include dust mites, molds and certain foods. Physicians determine a patient’s allergies by skin and/or blood tests.

Immunotherapy is a series of allergy shots, injections of purified allergen extracts. These are usually given over a period of a few years.
